What Motivates Us
Our Vision & Mission

Vision
Care systems that support children, youth, and families to thrive in their communities, free from discrimination.
Mission
To partner with Indigenous communities and value-aligned organizations to build, strengthen, and transform care systems centered in culture, prevention, and child, youth, and family well-being.

Our Origin Story
Catalysts for Change Collective was established in January 2024 by Allysa Lobbezoo to address systemic inequalities in colonial care systems in partnership with value-aligned communities, organizations, and individuals committed to transformative action.
The vision for this work originated from witnessing the preventable, adverse outcomes many Indigenous and other racialized children and youth faced when navigating complex and inequitable systems of care, including child welfare and child and youth mental health.
Grounded in our shared humanity and the power of collective action, we work with our partners to build, strengthen, and transform care systems—creating structures centred in culture, community, prevention, and child, family, and community wellness.
Who We Are
Our dynamic team comprises highly skilled professionals with over a decade of experience in research, analysis, and the development of operational, policy, and practice frameworks.
We use a decentralized, lateral structure to subcontract consultants based on project-specific needs, ensuring alignment between your priorities and the right expertise.
By working collectively, we harness diverse perspectives to co-develop tailored approaches and solutions to complex, intersectional systemic challenges—challenges best addressed through shared expertise and collective action.

Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Allyssa, a third-generation settler of Dutch ancestry. As an ally, partnering with First Nations, governing bodies, and organizations, I support the development of child and family laws, practice frameworks, policies, and systems—working to address systemic gaps in child welfare, mental health, health, education, and justice.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration, with more than eight years’ experience supporting children, youth, and families; leading research and evaluation; facilitating working groups and community engagement; and developing practice frameworks, policies, standards, and governance tools.
Collaborating closely with leadership, I help identify and implement strategic and operational priorities, guided by the principles, governance structures, and teachings of each Nation, governing body, or organization.
I believe that real change begins within and I am committed to driving systemic transformation alongside Indigenous peoples and fellow allies.
